# FJ Benjamin founder Frank Benjamin has passed away | Lianhe Zaobao

Local listed apparel retailer FJ Benjamin founder Frank Benjamin passed away on Wednesday (December 10).

Frank Benjamin led the company for 63 years and was known for his keen business acumen, adept at discovering and introducing emerging fashionable brands. He retired in December 2022, stepping down as the company's chairman.

According to an obituary posted on the Obituaries.sg Facebook page, FJ Benjamin praised Frank Benjamin as a "pioneering figure in Singapore's retail industry," stating that since founding the company in 1959, he "has transformed the fashion landscape in the region."

The board, management, and all employees of the Singapore Exchange's Catalist-listed company wrote in the obituary: "The passing of Frank Benjamin has deeply saddened his family, colleagues, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him."
