# ChatGPT ranks first in annual non-game free app downloads in the U.S. market for Apple

TechCrunch reported that Apple (AAPL.US) released its annual ranking of the most downloaded apps and games on Wednesday (10th). In the U.S. market, excluding game apps, OpenAI's ChatGPT ranked first among free apps.

The remaining top ten non-game free apps include Threads, Google, TikTok, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, and Google’s intelligent chatbot Gemini.

ChatGPT ranked fourth on the list last year but did not make the top ten in 2023. The report indicated that ChatGPT's download volume surpassed that of utility apps like Google Maps, reflecting OpenAI's potential to disrupt Google's mobile search market as more people turn to chatbots for answers
