# BYD teases Seal 08 sedan and Sealion 08 SUV, set to debut in Q1 2026

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) previewed two new models for its Ocean series, set for official unveiling early next year.

Zhang Zhuo, head of sales for the new energy vehicle (NEV) maker's Ocean series, teased the Seal 08 sedan and Sealion 08 SUV (sport utility vehicle) at an event today as the flagship models of the lineup.

The two models will redefine premium NEV standards and debut in the first quarter of 2026, Zhang said.

Further details about the Seal 08 and Sealion 08 remain undisclosed. Judging by their names, they likely represent a large-size sedan and a large SUV.

BYD's Ocean series currently includes the Seal sedan lineup, Sealion SUV lineup, Seagull compact EV, Dolphin compact EV, and Song Plus SUV lineup.

BYD Group sold 4.18 million NEVs from January to November, with the Ocean series contributing 2.03 million units, or 48.56 percent, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

BYD celebrated the Ocean series' cumulative sales reaching six million units at the event held this evening. Another product lineup under the BYD brand is the Dynasty series.

BYD's 15 millionth NEV is about to roll off the production line, Zhang announced at today's event.

He also revealed that the BYD Dolphin has reached its 1 millionth unit produced, making it the fastest A0-segment model to achieve this milestone in the Chinese market.

On December 3, Zhang announced the Dolphin had achieved one million sales, becoming the third model in BYD's Ocean series to reach this milestone after the Song Plus and Seagull.

BYD to debut new concept Ocean-M at Beijing auto show

The Ocean-M will be based on a new all-electric platform and is the industry's first rear-wheel drive all-electric performance hatchback, according to BYD.
