Going forward, the company will only manufacture its solar shingles at its Texas factory. The move comes with layoffs in California. GAF Energy laid off 138 San Jose employees on December 13, according to a California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed by the company in October. “In light of ongoing changes in the solar industry, we are aligning our business and our team to focus on key markets where solar is most compelling for builders and homeowners,” GAF Energy president Martin DeBono said in a statement. GAF Energy opened its 450,000-square-foot nailable solar shingle factory in Texas in May 2024 to meet growing demand for its Timberline Solar Energy Shingle, which the company calls the world’s first and debuted in January 2022. ## Related News & Research - [Dimension Energy announces closing of $650 million community solar project financing package](https://longbridge.com/en/news/281406038.md) - [Homerun Edges Toward Feasibility Milestone for Brazil Solar Glass Plant](https://longbridge.com/en/news/281419356.md) - [KBRA Assigns Preliminary Ratings to ClearLight Nebo Issuer 2026-1, LLC](https://longbridge.com/en/news/281555302.md) - [TCL Zhonghuan to acquire stake in Das Solar](https://longbridge.com/en/news/281042693.md) - [Kenanga expects Malaysia’s utility-scale solar activity to gradually pick up in the second quarter on lower costs](https://longbridge.com/en/news/281485524.md)
