The central parity rate of the RMB against the US dollar was raised by 33 points to 7.0550 against one US dollar, reaching a new high in over 14 and a half months.
The People's Bank of China today (19th) conducted a seven-day reverse repurchase operation of 56.2 billion RMB (the same below) in the open market, with the operation rate remaining at 1.4%. At the same time, a 14-day reverse repurchase operation was conducted, involving 100 billion RMB. Today, 120.5 billion RMB of reverse repos matured, resulting in a net injection of 35.7 billion RMB for the day.
The three major indices of A-shares opened higher and rose, with the Shanghai Composite Index testing 3,900 points but ultimately losing ground. The Shanghai Composite Index closed up 14 points or 0.4% at 3,890 points, with a turnover of 738.1 billion RMB. The Shenzhen Component Index closed up 86 points or 0.7% at 13,140 points, with a turnover of 987.85 billion RMB. The ChiNext Index closed up 15 points or 0.5% at 3,122 points, with a turnover of 438.3 billion RMB.
Major domestic bank stocks showed mixed performance, with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (601398.SH) down 1.4% and China Construction Bank (601939.SH) up 0.1%.
Leading domestic real estate stocks stabilized and rose, with China Vanke (000002.SZ), Poly Developments (600048.SH), and Greenland (600606.SH) rising between 0.6% and 1.6%.
Some consumer retail stocks rose, with DoBe Group (300947.SZ) and SHJB (600838.SH) both hitting the daily limit. Dalian Friendship (000679.SZ) rose 7.2%. China Duty Free Group (601888.SH) also rose 8.3%.
Leading domestic chip stocks rose steadily, with SMIC (688981.SH) and Hua Hong Semiconductor (688347.SH) up 0.7% and 0.2%, respectively. Cambrian (688256.SH) fell 1.5%. Computing power stock Yangtze Optical Fibre (601869.SH) continued to rise by 6.9%.
In addition, CATL (300750.SZ) and BYD (002594.SZ) rose 0.5% and 0.8%, respectively
