# People's Bank of China: Implementing a one-time credit repair policy

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) issued a notice announcing a one-time credit repair policy to support individuals with damaged credit in rebuilding their credit. For overdue personal debts not exceeding RMB 10,000 in a single transaction during the period from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2025, individuals who fully repay their overdue debts by March 31, 2026, will not have their information displayed in the financial credit information database. Specifically, debts repaid before November 30, 2025, will be removed from display starting January 1, 2026; debts repaid between December 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026, will be removed by the end of the following month. This process will be handled technically by the PBOC Credit Reference Center and requires no application from individuals. Furthermore, individuals will receive two additional free credit inquiries during the first half of 2026.
