# NZX 50 Logs Best Daily Gain in Over 4 Months

The S&P/NZX 50 Index rose 1.3% to close at 13,508 on Monday, marking its best intraday gain since early August, ahead of a holiday-shortened trading week.

The benchmark tracked gains on Wall Street last week, driven by renewed optimism around AI-related stocks and expectations that the Federal Reserve has greater scope to ease policy.

Health-related shares led the advance, with the health technology sector rising more than 2%.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare gained 2.1%, EBOS Group added 1.9%, and AFT Pharmaceuticals rose 1.7%.

The health services sector also climbed nearly 3%, supported by gains in Ryman Healthcare (+3.2%), Summerset Group (+3.3%), and Oceania Healthcare (+1.1%).

Non-energy minerals also came under upward pressure, including Fletcher Building (+2.2%) and Santana Minerals (+5.2%).

For 2025 as a whole, the benchmark index is on track for an annual gain of over 3%.
