# SCI: Fuel ethanol prices have fallen from high levels, and the short-term supply and demand tug-of-war continues

In late December, the price of fuel ethanol in Northeast China fell. In mid-December, favorable supply and cost factors temporarily supported some production enterprises to raise prices by 150 yuan/ton, but gasoline demand remained in the off-season, leading to sluggish transactions after the price increase. In late December, some production enterprises shifted their negotiation focus downward. The production of fuel ethanol in Northeast China remains low, affected by high corn prices and slow grain collection progress. Some fuel ethanol production enterprises are operating at a low capacity of 70-80%, and some factories primarily produce edible ethanol, resulting in a low fuel ethanol output ratio of 35%-40%. With a tug-of-war between supply and demand, market prices are expected to stabilize in the short term
