# Ministry of Commerce: Firmly opposes the U.S. imposing Section 301 tariffs on Chinese semiconductor products and has made solemn representations

> The Ministry of Commerce firmly opposes the United States' imposition of Section 301 tariffs on Chinese semiconductor products and has made a serious representation through the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism. The Chinese side believes that the unilateral tariffs imposed by the U.S. violate World Trade Organization rules, undermine the international economic and trade order, and urges the U.S. to cancel the relevant measures. It also stated that if the U.S. continues to harm China's interests, China will take necessary measures to safeguard its own rights and interests

On the 25th, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, He Yongqian, responded to questions regarding the U.S. announcement of additional 301 tariffs on certain Chinese semiconductor products, stating that China has noted the situation and has made solemn representations to the U.S. through the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism. China does not agree with the so-called conclusions of the U.S. 301 investigation and firmly opposes the U.S. imposing 301 tariffs on Chinese semiconductor products.

At a regular press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce that day, a reporter asked: On December 23rd, Eastern Time, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative released the results of the 301 investigation into China's semiconductor policies, announcing additional 301 tariffs on certain Chinese semiconductor products, with the current tax rate at 0%, which will be raised after 18 months, in June 2027. What is the Ministry of Commerce's comment on this?

He Yongqian stated that the U.S. unilateral tariffs violate World Trade Organization rules, undermine the international economic and trade order, disrupt global industrial and supply chains, and harm the interests of U.S. businesses and consumers, ultimately harming others without benefiting itself. China urges the U.S. to correct its erroneous practices as soon as possible and cancel the relevant measures. China is willing to resolve mutual concerns through equal dialogue and consultation based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. If the U.S. insists on harming China's rights and interests, China will resolutely take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its own rights and interests.
