# Meet Bruno Gouery, who plays eccentric Frenchman Luc on Emily in Paris

The fifth season of Emily in Paris has just come to an end, but fans still can’t get enough. The latest instalment saw our titular protagonist romance Eugenio Franceschini’s Marcello while Lucas Bravo’s Gabriel yearns for her from a distance. By the end of the season though, Emily is single again, leaving fans wondering who she’ll end up with next.\\n\\nBesides Emily’s love triangle, the new season offered up some major drama with Luc, Emily’s womanising French colleague and friend at Agence Grateau. The fan-favourite character, played by Bruno Gouery, is usually the source of much-needed comic relief on the show – and season five was no exception. “With the character of Luc, I think the writers want to always … give something more funny, comical, humorous,” the actor told Tudum.\\nSo, what do we know about Bruno Gouery?\\nWhat’s his background?\\n\\nAccording to an interview Gouery gave to Eclair Magazine, he was born in July 1975 to a Norman chemist father and an Italian accountant mother in France. He is trilingual, speaking French, Italian and English.\\nGouery spent his childhood in the suburbs of Paris and drew artistic inspiration from the “large and colourful” Italian side of his family. His first brush with comedy was through his grandfather and uncles. “It was through their contact and by observing them that I began my first performances,” he told Eclair.\\nGouery studied history but did not pursue a career in that field.\\nHow did he get into acting?\\n\\nGouery was working for a TV channel when he took a dramatics course at his co-worker’s behest, per Eclair Magazine. “It was a revelation: this is the job I want to do!” he remembered thinking.\\nAfter watching French comedy icon Michel Galabru perform on stage one day, he started taking acting lessons from him and eventually made his own stage debut alongside the legend. “\[Galabru\] was a role model, an inspiration, a guide whose advice and experience are still with me today,” Gouery gushed to Eclair.\\nWhere have you seen him before?\\n\\nIn addition to Emily in Paris, Gouery is best known for The White Lotus, where he played Didier. He also starred in the 2024 film Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness, though he admitted to feeling hesitant about working with the film’s controversial director, Johnny Depp, at first. “After the trial \[with his ex-wife Amber Heard, I felt\] that it was OK. I cannot pretend to know whether \[someone is\] guilty or not guilty – the trial said it. I have to trust the justice,” he told Rolling Stone.\\nSome other works you may have seen him in include French shows Doc Martin (2011-2015) and President Alphonse (2017), and Italian film Rose Island (2020).\\n
