His mother hails from Brazil, while his Sicilian father, a musician, grew up in Argentina, he revealed in an interview with Ashley Parchment on her YouTube channel, It Takes a Universe. He lost his dad at a young age to cancer, after which his mother took up multiple jobs to make ends meet. Jay started playing piano at a young age, following in the footsteps of his older brother. However, he did not enjoy it.\\nHe’s an actor\\n\\nIn high school, Jay was involved in choir and theatre, he shared on It Takes a Universe. He went on to participate in a drama programme at the New York Film Academy, and studied theatre at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts alongside Miles Teller and Ilana Glazer. His shows took off when he ventured into musical comedy.
