# Starting next year, the New York subway will fully transition to a contactless payment system

According to the Associated Press report on December 28, the New York subway card, which has been in use since 1994, will stop being sold and recharged on December 31 of this year. Starting January 1 of next year, the New York subway will fully transition to a contactless payment system, allowing passengers to pay using contactless subway tickets, credit cards, mobile phones, and other smart devices.
