# AI Demand Is Pushing GPU Prices Higher With Direct Impact On Nvidia (NVDA) Stock

Nvidia Corporation (NVDA) is facing a rare issue in its gaming business, but it starts far outside the gaming world. Specifically, rising demand for AI data centers is tightening the supply of memory chips used in graphics cards. As a result, prices for high-end consumer GPUs are moving higher, even as overall demand stays steady.

According to industry reports, the price of key graphics memory has risen sharply over the past year. In fact, a standard 16-gigabit memory module used in modern GPUs has risen from about $5.50 in mid-2025 to more than $20 by late-2025. Because of this shift, memory now makes up the bulk of a GPU's total build cost, which leaves manufacturers with little room to absorb higher expenses.

Meanwhile, NVDA shares dropped 0.55% on Tuesday, closing at $186.50.
