# The S&P closed up less than 0.2%, small-cap indices rose 1%, and the semiconductor index increased by 4%

On the first trading day of 2026, the S&P 500 Index rose by 12.97 points, an increase of 0.19%, closing at 6858.47 points, with a cumulative decline of 1.03% for the week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 319.10 points, an increase of 0.66%, closing at 48382.39 points, with a cumulative decline of 0.67% for the week.

The NASDAQ Composite Index fell by 6.362 points, a decrease of 0.03%, closing at 23235.629 points, with a cumulative decline of 1.52% for the week.
