According to the Spanish newspaper ABC's website on January 9, U.S. President Trump stated on January 8 that military operations against drug trafficking groups in Mexico will "soon" be launched. The report said that Trump, in an interview with Fox News, stated: "We will begin ground strikes against drug trafficking groups." Meanwhile, relations between the U.S. and Mexico are becoming increasingly tense. Trump said: "The drug trafficking groups are controlling Mexico. It is heartbreaking to witness everything happening in that country. But the drug trafficking groups are in control of this country, killing 250,000 to 300,000 people in our territory every year."
