# Lighter introduces LIT staking, which unlocks four permissions including LLP staking benefits and fee discounts.

Lighter has announced the launch of its LIT staking feature, offering the following benefits: 1. Users staking LIT will gain access to LLP (Lighter Liquidity Pools). For every 1 LIT staked, 10 USDC will be immediately deposited into LLP. Existing LLP holders have a two-week grace period (ending January 28th) during which they can retain their existing funds. After this period, continued LIT staking is required to participate in LLP. 2. The tiered fees charged by market makers and high-frequency trading firms will be adjusted within two weeks. Overall fees will increase, but LIT staking will offer a fee discount, maintaining the lowest fee tier at its current level. We will release the detailed tiered fee rules several days in advance to allow trading firms to adjust their algorithms. 3. Staking LIT will generate returns; the annualized yield will be published immediately after the feature takes effect. 4. Staking 100 LIT will enjoy zero withdrawal and transfer fees.
