# Year-end travel is more popular, Singapore Airlines carried 3.8 million passengers in December last year, setting a record | Lianhe Zaobao

Thanks to the increased travel demand at the end of the year, SIA Group saw a 1.9% year-on-year rise in passenger numbers in December, with passenger capacity growing by 2.6%.

On Thursday (January 15), SIA released its operational data for December, indicating a passenger load factor of 87.9%, with SIA and Scoot achieving load factors of 87.6% and 89.1%, respectively.

Driven by strong year-end travel demand, the group carried a total of 3.8 million passengers in December, setting a record for the highest monthly figure, while the total for the year reached 41.6 million passengers, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%.

The group's previous monthly record was set in December 2024, when it carried 3.6 million passengers.

In December last year, Scoot launched routes to Labuan Bajo in Indonesia and Semarang in Java, as well as to Okinawa in Japan. By the end of December last year, the group's passenger route network covered 37 countries and regions, encompassing 137 destinations.

In terms of cargo, boosted by year-end demand and an increase in freighters, cargo volume in December rose by 7.4% year-on-year, with the cargo load factor also increasing by 1.6 percentage points to 55.2%.

As of the end of December last year, the group's cargo network covered 38 countries and regions, with a total of 138 destinations. On Thursday, Singapore Airlines' stock price fell by 0.62% to SGD 6.36
