# The 42nd Antarctic Expedition "Snow Dragon" Ocean Team has begun ocean exploration operations

On January 16, during its 42nd Antarctic expedition, the "Xue Long" ship was en route to the Amundsen Sea when members of the ocean team braved 4-meter swells and level 7 winds to deploy the first disposable temperature and depth sensor of this voyage into the sea, marking the official commencement of the ocean investigation operations. Zhang Haifeng, captain of the ocean team on the "Xue Long," introduced that the team consists of 31 members from 12 domestic research institutions and universities, and "this ocean investigation in the Amundsen Sea and adjacent waters will focus on investigating key elements of the marine ecosystem."
