According to domestic media "Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily," citing business information from the Qichacha APP, China Nuclear (Xiangshan) Nuclear Energy Co., Ltd. was recently established, jointly held by China Nuclear Power's subsidiary China Nuclear Zheneng Energy Co., Ltd., Hongrun Construction, Yageo Group Co., Ltd., and Alibaba's Shanghai Yiqi Network Technology Co., Ltd. The report pointed out that the legal representative of China Nuclear (Xiangshan) Nuclear Energy is Zhong Hua, with a registered capital of 250 million RMB. Its business scope includes power generation, transmission, supply (distribution) of electricity, radiation monitoring, inspection and testing services, heat production and supply, business training, power generation technology services, and engaging in investment activities. ## Last Year Also Bet on New Nuclear Energy The report noted that the Alibaba Group had previously invested in the nuclear energy sector, including direct funding for controllable nuclear fusion technology developer Nova Fusion, as well as Ant Group's investment in another controllable nuclear fusion developer Xingneng Xuanguang. The recent stake in China Nuclear (Xiangshan) Nuclear Energy marks Alibaba's formal entry into the traditional nuclear power industry. Regarding Alibaba's strategic intentions, Pan Helin, a member of the Information and Communication Economic Expert Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that this move considers both financial investment and strategic layout, which can be summarized into four core objectives: stable financial investment returns, early positioning in future markets, building a collaborative ecosystem in the supply chain, and leveraging regional capital for collaborative efforts.
