# The surge in AI electricity demand accelerates the development of the carbon capture industry in Texas and the Midwest

With the surge in computing workloads driven by artificial intelligence (AI), the supply of clean and stable electricity is beginning to face challenges. The construction of gas turbines equipped with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology is entering the fast lane across the United States. BNEF expects that in the short term, CCS deployment activities will mainly focus on Texas and the Midwest, largely due to strong AI load growth and convenient midstream carbon dioxide infrastructure.
