Polestar Reportedly Set to Launch Its Next Beastly BST High-Performance EV As Early As 2026

Long before it was an all-electric spinoff brand, Polestar's guiding principal was performance, as its roots lie in being a racing offshoot of Volvo. While it may have moved away from that original mission somewhat, it's never entirely lost sight of its speedy origins. And now, it's apparently preparing to launch what could be its quickest model yet.Polestar is reportedly getting ready to launch the latest vehicle from its little-used-so-far BST sub-brand, otherwise known as "Beast." (Not to be confused with the official vehicle of the President of the United States.) According to a new report from CarSales Australia, Polestar is set to release its newest BST machine sometime in late 2026 or early 2027, with the performance-forward special edition set to be based on an existing model.Polestar"To be able to offer up a bit more of a BST line-up to some of the vehicles we have got or are going to get … would be tremendous," Polestar Australia CEO Scott Maynard said in an interview with CarSales Australia. "I think we should expect some BST enhancements to more of the range. It’s recognized as something that would be worthwhile and it would sit well with brand image."Previously, BST has delivered uprated versions of the Polestar 2, and the brand has promised a BST-version of the Polestar 6 roadster concept. The company's quickest model currently is the Polestar 5, a sleek 884-hp sedan revealed at the 2025 IAA Mobility show in Munich (and not currently offered in America) that could serve as a strong platform for the automake'rs latest BST edition. Likewise, the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 are both early in their lifespans, and ripe for a boost in power and sportiness. Polestar executives have been coy about specifying which model will receive the BST upgrades, but the automaker's newly arrived lead designer Philipp Römers expressed excitement about implementing performance-focused changes.Polestar"We should remain, of course, progressive, and have some features which are outstanding, but the execution and the looks of the car should be highly attractive and well done and should not scare you," Römers said to CarSales Australia.Polestar is not alone in its crusade to bring high-performance electric vehicles to market. Hyundai's Ioniq 5 N is an obvious winner in the segment, but luxury brands like BMW and Audi are also investing electrified performance. Depending on which model Polestar chooses to boost, the Swedish model could be in close competition with the long-teased, newly revealed electric BMW M Neue Klasse, which is set to have over 738 hp.
