# German media: NATO officials say they will strengthen military deployment on the eastern flank to "deter Russia"

> German media reported on January 24 that, according to a senior NATO official, NATO plans to significantly expand its weapons and ammunition reserves along the eastern flank and build a new defense zone using robotics and automation technology. Thomas Löwen, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations at NATO Allied Land Command, stated in an interview with the German newspaper "Welt am Sonntag" that these measures are aimed at strengthening "deterrence against Russia."
