Despite the surge in electricity demand driven by the snowstorm, electricity prices in Chicago, USA, have still fallen into negative territory due to the transmission capacity of high-voltage power lines reaching its limit. According to data compiled by NRGStream, a subsidiary of Arcus Power, at 10:10 AM local time on Monday, the real-time electricity price in the ComEd service area, owned by Exelon Corp., plummeted to negative $227.93 per megawatt-hour.
