# Selling pressure on precious metal technology stocks spreads to the Asia-Pacific market, with the Hang Seng Index falling 0.25% | Lianhe Zaobao

With a significant drop in precious metal prices and selling pressure on technology stocks, the Asia-Pacific stock markets collectively declined on Monday (February 2). The FTSE Straits Times Index fell 0.25% or 12.33 points, closing at 4892.80 points.

The local stock market had a trading volume of 1.58 billion shares throughout the day, with a total trading value of SGD 2.13 billion; 200 stocks rose, while 453 stocks fell.

Among the constituents of the index, only seven stocks rose, with Jardine Matheson Holdings (JMH) performing the best, rising 1.28% to USD 73.70. Fourteen stocks declined, with Hongkong Land under the most pressure, falling 2.47% to USD 8.28.

In other Asia-Pacific markets, the recently surging Seoul stock market plummeted 5.26%; Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Hong Kong fell 2.54%, 2.48%, and 2.23%, respectively. Sydney, Tokyo, and Taiwan saw declines ranging from 1.05% to 1.37%.
