# Vitalik's sale of ETH today may be part of his donation plan, totaling 16,384 ETH.

According to on-chain analyst AI Yi, Vitalik Buterin sold 493 ETH on February 3rd, worth approximately $1.16 million. Four days prior, Vitalik had transferred 16,384 ETH from his personal address to a multi-signature address, and began selling them in batches today. This action is believed to correspond to his "multi-year donation plan" publicly mentioned on January 30th. Vitalik stated at the time that the plan would support the construction of open-source, secure, and verifiable full-stack hardware and software systems.
