# The EU announces an investigation into Goldwind, and the Chinese side responds

> The European Union has launched an investigation into the Chinese wind power company Goldwind, due to concerns that it benefits from government subsidies, affecting market competition. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded by accusing the EU of taking discriminatory measures that harm its image and affect the investment confidence of Chinese enterprises. China calls on the EU to adhere to its commitments to market openness, provide a fair competitive environment, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises

On February 4th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian hosted a regular press conference. A reporter from AFP asked about the European Union's announcement to investigate China's wind power giant Goldwind Technology Co., Ltd., citing concerns that the company benefits from government subsidies, distorting competition in the EU market. What is the Foreign Ministry's comment on this?

"You are advised to consult the relevant Chinese authorities for specific details," Lin Jian pointed out. He noted that the EU frequently employs unilateral trade tools and takes discriminatory restrictive measures against Chinese companies, sending a signal of protectionism, damaging the EU's image, and affecting the confidence of Chinese companies in investing in Europe.

Lin Jian emphasized that we urge the EU side to adhere to commitments of market openness and fair competition principles, to stop abusing unilateral trade tools, and to provide a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for enterprises from all countries. China firmly safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
