# The University of Michigan's February consumer confidence preliminary value in the U.S. rose to 57.3, while the one-year inflation expectation fell to 3.5%

> According to a survey by the University of Michigan, the U.S. Consumer Confidence Index rose by 0.9 points to 57.3 in February 2026, marking the third consecutive month of increase, exceeding market expectations of 55. Despite the improvement, confidence remains about 20% lower than the level in January 2025. The inflation expectation for the next year decreased from 4% in January to 3.5%, the lowest level since January 2025; long-term inflation expectations rose from 3.3% to 3.4%

According to preliminary data from the University of Michigan survey, the U.S. Consumer Confidence Index rose by 0.9 points to 57.3 in February 2026, marking the third consecutive month of increase and exceeding market expectations of 55. Despite the improvement, confidence remains about 20% lower than the level in January 2025.

In terms of prices, inflation expectations for the next year significantly decreased from 4% in January to 3.5%, the lowest level since January 2025; while longer-term inflation expectations rose for the second consecutive month, increasing from 3.3% to 3.4%
