# New York Fed Consumer Survey: Short-term inflation expectations decline, financial condition outlook worsens

According to the New York Federal Reserve's Consumer Expectations Survey, consumers' expectations for inflation over the next year fell to 3.09% in January, down from 3.42% the previous month. According to the report: the median of inflation uncertainty decreased for the one-year and three-year dimensions but increased for the five-year dimension. Respondents' views on their current financial situation worsened, with a higher proportion believing their household situation has deteriorated compared to a year ago. For the coming year, consumers expect gasoline prices to rise by 2.8%, food prices by 5.74%; medical costs by 9.8%, college education expenses by 9.03%, and rent prices by 6.82%
