# Just in time for the Olympics: Yutong delivers electric buses to Trentino

While Yutong’s press release refers only to a ‘world-class winter sports event’ currently taking place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, this is a clear indication that the company is not an official partner of the Olympic Winter Games. Instead, Yutong leverages the event’s prominence for a marketing opportunity to showcase its electric buses.

As shown in the press photos, the battery-electric buses have been delivered to Trentino Trasporti, the public transport operator serving the Trentino region. Several competition venues, including the cross-country skiing stadium in Tesero, are located in this area.

The new electric buses will not transport athletes; they will transport spectators. The vehicles have been integrated into Trentino Trasporti’s local public transport network just in time for the start of the Olympic Winter Games, significantly boosting transport capacity. To address the high demand during the event—and overcome challenges such as narrow city centre streets and unique climatic conditions—Yutong developed a coordinated solution under the motto ‘two large and one small’ buses.

This solution comprises two 12-metre solo buses, the U12 and E12, alongside the 7-metre midibus E7S. According to Yutong, this combination creates a mobility matrix for various scenarios, addressing both long-distance transfers and urban micromobility needs.

Currently, 20 units of the U12 and eight units of the E12 are already in service, operating on scheduled routes, which are free to use during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Additionally, 40 electric midibuses of the E7S type are available for deployment as needed.

These are not the first Yutong electric buses to be deployed in northern Italy. Last autumn, the public transport operator ASF Autolinee in Como introduced seven Yutong electric buses into its fleet.
