Indeed, more than nine in ten Americans have said that they would be more than happy to receive chocolate on Valentine's Day. "Valentine's Day consistently ranks alongside Halloween and Easter as one of the largest chocolate-selling holidays of the year," Walmart said. "In the U.S. alone, consumers are expected to purchase roughly 58 million pounds of chocolate in the week leading up to February 14, driving billions of dollars in seasonal sales." Because of that late rush – presumably men struggling to decide what to buy their better halves – Walmart is this year promoting the importance of U.S. chocolate manufacturing. Not just good news for those producers but also a certain sweet-toothed American who has made quite the thing about 'America First." ## **U.S. Commitment** Back in 2021, Walmart said it was ramping up its commitment to U.S. manufacturing with a $350 billion spend over the next 10 years. According to Walmart, more than 2/3rds of its U.S. annual product spend is now on items are made, grown, or assembled in the United States. "That investment shows up in real ways during peak moments like Valentine's Day, when timing, availability and scale matter most.," it said. "Increasingly, this proximity matters to shoppers as well. As interest grows in where products are made and how quickly retailers can meet demand, U.S.-made chocolate is becoming part of a broader consumer shift toward accessibility." ### Related Stocks - [ONLN.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/ONLN.US.md) - [XRT.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/XRT.US.md) - [WMT.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/WMT.US.md) - [RTH.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/RTH.US.md) - [UGE.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/UGE.US.md) - [XLP.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/XLP.US.md) - [PBJ.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/PBJ.US.md) - [IBUY.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/IBUY.US.md) - [IYK.US](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/IYK.US.md) ## Related News & Research - [Why Is Walmart Stock Surging On Wednesday?](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288606328.md) - [Walmart+: The Shopping Edge That Leads to 4X More Spending](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288514340.md) - [Walmart Ramps up Drone Deliveries to Hit One Million Mark in Customer Battle](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288296811.md) - [Nurri Introduces Nurri Kids™, an Ultra-filtered Protein Shake Redefining Nutrition Shakes for Growing Kids at Sam's Club](https://longbridge.com/en/news/288306882.md) - [Walmart Inc. $WMT Stock Position Lowered by Employees Retirement System of Texas](https://longbridge.com/en/news/287739803.md)
