SINGAPORE – Five people were conscious when taken to hospital after an accident involving a car and a van on the TPE in the early hours of Feb 13. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the accident on the expressway towards PIE before the Punggol Road exit at about 2.30am. A person was found trapped in the driver’s seat of the car and was rescued using hydraulic rescue equipment, the SCDF added. The police said the 50-year-old male car driver, a 38-year-old van driver and his three passengers, aged between 31 and 44, were taken to the hospital. In a video posted on Singapore Road Vigilante’s Facebook page, a stationary red car can be seen next to the central road divider. Its hood is badly damaged and airbags appear to have been deployed inside the car. Later in the same video, a van is seen lying on its side across the two leftmost lanes of an expressway. Motorists can be seen stopping their vehicles to help the occupants of the van, as they climb out of the vehicle through the front passenger door. Grass and debris can be seen strewn across the expressway. Police investigations are ongoing. Source: The Straits Times © SPH Media Limited.
