# Infrared Finance - Dutch Auction Launch - 14 February 2026

Infrared Finance is launching an on-chain Dutch auction where protocols bid with IR to buy validators’ rights to Berachain BGT incentive allocations in 36-hour, descending-price rounds, as outlined in the project’s official announcement. Mechanically, protocols must accumulate and spend IR to secure these emission rights, turning IR into a coordination and payment asset for yield distribution. This design can create recurring structural demand for IR from protocols competing for incentives, while also locking up or redistributing supply, which may increase price sensitivity to auction participation and broader Berachain ecosystem activity.
