# Consumer Tech News (Feb 9-13): AI Energy Push, And Mixed Tech Earnings Dominate Headlines & More

The French president celebrated Europe’s most powerful rocket launch after it successfully deployed 32 **Amazon.com Inc.** (NASDAQ:AMZN) Leo satellites into orbit, as **Jeff Bezos** steps up his challenge to **SpaceX’s Starlink**.

**Russia’s** government reportedly attempted to fully block WhatsApp in what the messaging service called an effort to drive users to a state-owned surveillance app, according to WhatsApp, which is owned by **Meta Platforms Inc.** (NASDAQ:META).

Ahead of the **Donald Trump**–**Xi Jinping** meeting scheduled for April, the Trump administration has reportedly paused several critical technology security measures targeting China.

The Trump administration is reportedly pushing the tech giants to publicly commit to a draft compact aimed at ensuring the rapid expansion of energy-intensive data centers does not drive up household electricity costs, strain water resources, or undermine grid reliability.

**Twilio Inc** (NYSE:TWLO) reported fourth-quarter revenue of $1.37 billion, beating analyst estimates of $1.32 billion and adjusted earnings of $1.33 per share for the quarter, beating estimates of $1.24 per share.

**Roku Inc.** (NASDAQ:ROKU) reported quarterly earnings of 53 cents per share, which beat the consensus estimate of 27 cents, and revenue came in at $1.4 billion, which beat the analyst consensus estimate of $1.35 billion.

**Applied Materials Inc.** (NASDAQ:AMAT) reported first-quarter revenue of $7.01 billion, beating analyst estimates of $6.87 billion and adjusted earnings of $2.38 per share, beating analyst estimates of $2.20 per share.

**Lyft Inc.** (NASDAQ:LYFT) generated $1.59 billion in revenue, falling short of the $1.75 billion analysts expected and adjusted earnings per share of 15 cents, topping the 12-cent consensus.

**HubSpot Inc.** (NYSE:HUBS) reported quarterly earnings of $3.09 per share, which beat the analyst estimate of $2.99, and revenue clocked in at $846.75 million, which beat the Street estimate of $830.54 million.

**QuantumScape Corp** (NASDAQ:QS) reported a fourth-quarter loss of 17 cents per share, beating estimates for a loss of 18 cents per share.

**AppLovin Corp** (NASDAQ:APP) reported fourth-quarter revenue of $1.66 billion, beating analyst estimates of $1.60 billion and earnings of $3.24 per share, beating analyst estimates of $2.95 per share.

**Tower Semiconductor Ltd.** (NASDAQ:TSEM) topped fourth-quarter estimates on revenue and earnings as margins surged and demand for silicon photonics accelerated.

## Retail, Restaurant & Entertainment

**Netflix Inc** (NASDAQ:NFLX) remains embroiled in a high-stakes bidding war for **Warner Bros. Discovery** (NASDAQ:WBD).

**McDonald's Corporation** (NYSE:MCD) is adapting its menu as a growing number of Americans on GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, such as Ozempic and Wegovy, alter portion sizes, snacking habits, and beverage choices.
