# Nasdaq falls by 50 points, records weekly loss, investor sentiment at 'Fear' level due to inflation report. Indices down by 1.2%-2.1%.

The Fear and Greed index by CNN Money indicated a decrease in market sentiment, remaining in the "Fear" zone on Friday. U.S. stocks had a mixed settlement, with the Nasdaq Composite dropping approximately 50 points post the inflation report. The annual inflation rate fell from 2.7% to 2.4% in January, below the expected 2.5%, marking the lowest figure since May 2025. Core inflation, excluding food and energy, also decreased from 2.7% to 2.5% year over year, hitting the lowest level since March 2021. Major indices experienced losses for the week - the S&P 500 declined by 1.4%, the Dow by 1.2%, and the Nasdaq by 2.1%. Applied Materials Inc. (NASDAQ: AMAT) saw an 8% increase in its stock after a successful quarterly report.
