China achieves fully automated operations for container ships for the first time

The "Zhi Fei" is the first intelligent navigation container ship in the country to be put into commercial operation. On February 21, it accurately docked at the automated terminal berth of Qingdao Port in Shandong Province using an unmanned autonomous navigation mode. This marks the first time in China that the entire process of navigation, docking, and operation of container ships has been fully automated. After the "Zhi Fei" was accurately positioned, the vacuum suction cups equipped with the vacuum automatic mooring system strongly adhered to the hull, securing the ship at the berth without any manual mooring in less than 30 seconds
