# California Governor: The U.S. President is destroying the American economy

> California Governor Gavin Newsom criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policy in an exclusive interview on February 22, calling it a farce and demanding a refund of the tariffs collected. He pointed out that the U.S. GDP growth rate in the last quarter was only 1.4%, inflation rose to 3%, and employment data was the worst since 2013, believing that Trump and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are "collaborating to destroy the U.S. economy."

In an exclusive interview video released on February 22 local time, California Governor Gavin Newsom stated that President Trump's tariff policy is a farce. After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the U.S. government's large-scale tariff policy was illegal, the Trump administration should refund the tariffs collected from Americans.
