# Trump demands Netflix to fire board member Susan Rice

Trump's threat may complicate Netflix's regulatory approval path for acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming business and film studio.

Former President Donald Trump has demanded that Netflix remove former Biden administration official Susan Rice from its board, "or else there will be consequences." Previously, Rice stated on a podcast that if the Democrats win control of the House this fall, "an accountability agenda will be launched," and illegal companies will be "held accountable."

Trump's threat may complicate Netflix's regulatory approval plans for acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming business and film studio. Netflix is competing with Paramount Global, and the controlling shareholder of Paramount Global, the Ellison family, is believed to have a closer relationship with Trump.

On the podcast, Rice specifically criticized media outlets like CBS, stating that even though they had "very strong and legitimate defenses" against Trump's defamation lawsuits, they still chose to pay large settlements to reach agreements. She also mentioned that the Democrats would not "break the law like they do, but we won't be suckers either." Trump's post on the "Truth Social" platform was a response to Laura Loomer's earlier remarks—Loomer called on Trump to "immediately halt the merger deal between Netflix and Warner Bros."
