# Spring Festival consumption data: The Spring Festival travel rush set a record for the highest number of travelers, domestic tourism popularity increased, and box office performance was weaker than in previous years

Dongxing Securities Co., Ltd. stated that this year's Spring Festival travel season has seen the highest number of travelers in history, with post-holiday travel stronger than pre-holiday travel. As of the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, the nationwide inter-regional personnel flow reached 5.08 billion trips in the first 20 days of this year's Spring Festival travel season, setting a historical record, an increase of 5.5% compared to the same period last year.

In terms of tourism, domestic travel has gained popularity, while outbound travel has declined. From the perspective of flight operations, the number of domestic flights and international flights during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday (from the day before New Year's Eve to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year) increased by 4.7% and 3.4% respectively compared to the same period in 2025, while the growth rates for both during the 2025 National Day holiday were 1.8% and 10.8%, reflecting an increase in domestic travel popularity during the Spring Festival holiday, while outbound travel popularity has declined.

Regarding box office performance, supply-side factors have led to weaker results compared to previous years. The 2026 Spring Festival period has more screenings, but faces lower box office revenue and attendance. As of the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, this year's Spring Festival box office has accumulated only 4.36 billion yuan, while the average for the same period from 2021 to 2025 was 6.1 billion yuan.

Dongxing Securities Co., Ltd. believes that based on the practices observed during the Spring Festival, there may be more policy support for consumption throughout the year, with the policy focus shifting from "trade-in subsidies" to other areas, such as consumer loan interest subsidies, prize invoices, support for service consumption, and encouragement of quality supply.
