AES stated that it has also signed a **power generation project agreement** to support the new data center, helping Google expand its operations to meet the demands of its core services. Shares of the utility company rose **1.2%** in pre-market trading. As the surge in artificial intelligence has led to a spike in electricity demand, U.S. utility companies are racing to sign power supply agreements with data center operators. However, this demand has also raised concerns about rising electricity costs for consumers. Amanda Peterson Corio, Global Head of Energy for Google Data Centers, stated that the agreement will bring additional clean power projects to the data center, alleviate pressure on the local grid, and help control energy costs. To date, AES has signed nearly **12 gigawatts** of energy-related agreements with data center customers, of which **9 gigawatts** are power purchase agreements directly signed with hyperscale cloud service providers. AES stated that it will build the necessary shared power infrastructure for the accompanying data center ### Related Stocks - [The AES Corporation (AES.US)](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/AES.US.md) - [Alphabet Inc.
