The budget will promote Hong Kong's integration into national development, enhance innovation and technology development, elevate its status as an international financial center, and allocate HKD 300 million to follow up on the aftermath of the Hong Fu Court fire. The government will continue to promote economic development, improve people's livelihoods, and enhance Hong Kong's core competitiveness The Secretary for Administration, Chan Kwok-kee, stated during a media briefing following the release of the new "Budget" that this year's "Budget" actively aligns with the national strategic blueprint, promoting Hong Kong's better integration into and service for the overall national development. Several key points are worth noting, including further strengthening innovation and technology development, enhancing Hong Kong's status as an international financial center, consolidating the competitiveness of traditional advantageous industries, and actively cultivating and attracting talent. He pointed out that the "Budget" also takes into account people's livelihoods, moderately strengthening support for citizens and local businesses while fully considering the government's financial situation, responding to the needs of different social strata; and allocating resources to follow up on the long-term housing and follow-up work after the fire at Hong Fu Court, including granting HKD 300 million to the Urban Renewal Authority to assist in launching an enhanced "Tendering Service" to achieve the long-term goal of solving the problem of collusion in building maintenance projects. He continued to state that this is a comprehensive, pragmatic, and forward-looking budget.
