The 30-year fixed mortgage rate averaged 5.98%, the lowest level since September 2022, from 6.01% last week, mortgage finance agency Freddie Mac said on Thursday. It averaged 6.76% during the same period a year ago. President Donald Trump ordered the Federal Housing Finance Agency - which oversees Freddie Mac and another mortgage finance giant Fannie Mae - to purchase $200 billion of bonds issued by the two companies to help lower the cost of home loans. ## Related News & Research - [Mortgage Advice Bureau Director Increases Stake in Company](https://longbridge.com/en/news/281548189.md) - [US FREDDIE MAC 30-YEAR MORTGAGE RATE 6.46% IN LATEST WEEK VS. 6.38% LAST WEEK, 6.64% YEAR AGO](https://longbridge.com/en/news/281556267.md) - [Anthony Scaramucci Warns American Dream 'Impaired' As Mortgage Rates Hit 6-Month High](https://longbridge.com/en/news/281143514.md) - [Clipper Realty Faces Legal Action Over Mortgage Default](https://longbridge.com/en/news/281265775.md) - [US mortgage rates jump to 6.57%, highest since August, MBA says](https://longbridge.com/en/news/281352619.md)
