On Friday, its wholly-owned luxury brand Denza previewed the new Z9GT, boasting a pure electric range of up to 1,036 kilometers, aiming to completely eliminate consumer range anxiety. Denza claims the updated Z9GT's range is the world's highest for pure electric vehicles. This represents a 460-kilometer, or 64.44%, increase over the previous Z9GT's 630-kilometer pure-electric range. Join us on Telegram or Google News A regulatory filing earlier this month revealed the updated Z9GT will offer battery pack capacities of 102.326 kWh and 122.496 kWh, with CLTC ranges of 820-1036 kilometers. It's worth noting that the updated Z9 sedan, equipped with the same battery packs, will offer CLTC ranges of 905-1068 kilometers, according to the filing. Denza also filed for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) versions of the Z9 and Z9GT, featuring a 63.82 kWh battery pack — nearly double the capacity of its predecessor — enabling a pure electric range exceeding 400 kilometers under CLTC conditions. The older Z9GT PHEV had a CLTC pure-electric range of 201 kilometers. While retaining its signature e3 triple-motor independent drive technology, the new Z9GT introduces a single-motor rear-wheel-drive variant with a maximum power output of 370 kW, offering consumers more diverse options. Currently available Z9GT models all feature three motors and utilize the e3 triple-motor independent drive technology. In terms of exterior and perception hardware, the Z9GT introduces a new green exterior color and relocates the LiDAR to the roof to support the latest God's Eye 5.0 advanced smart driving system. Denza was established in February 2011 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, with each holding a 50%stake at the time. In February 2022, the Daimler brand was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz. BYD increased its stake in Denza to 90% in 2022, reducing Mercedes-Benz's share to 10%. Mercedes-Benz fully divested its stake in Denza in September 2024. The Z9GT was launched on September 20, 2024, as the brand's first flagship GT sports car following its independent operation. The model currently offers two BEV variants starting at RMB 354,800 ($51,760) and RMB 384,800, alongside three PHEV variants priced from RMB 334,800, RMB 364,800, and RMB 414,800.
