# Macau's February gambling revenue reached 20.6 billion patacas, a 5% increase, exceeding expectations. Major banks indicate that gamblers are gaining momentum in the latter part of the Lunar New Year holiday

The Macao Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau announced that in February, the gross gaming revenue from lucky gambling reached MOP 20.627 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%, better than expected, recovering to 81% of the level before the pandemic, mainly driven by the peak travel season during the Lunar New Year.

Excluding the impact of different months during the Lunar New Year, the total gaming revenue in Macao for the first two months of this year was MOP 43.26 billion, an increase of 13.9% year-on-year.

## Record High of 1.55 Million Inbound Tourists to Macao During Long Holiday

The Macao Tourism Board previously announced that from February 15 to 23 during the Lunar New Year holiday, the total number of inbound tourists reached 1.554 million, averaging 173,000 per day, an increase of 5.5% year-on-year, marking a new high for the Lunar New Year holiday since official statistics began.

## JPMorgan Describes Lunar New Year Gaming Revenue as Mixed

JPMorgan's report pointed out that this year's Lunar New Year gaming revenue performance was mixed, with the betting amount recorded a double-digit year-on-year decline in the first 4 to 5 days, but subsequently, betting surged, once exceeding MOP 1.2 billion in a single day.

## Citigroup: Strong Start to the Year of the Horse with 13% Increase in Per Capita Betting Amount

Citigroup recently reported that the high-end mid-tier market had a strong start in the Year of the Horse, with the average betting amount per player reaching a record MOP 29,625, an increase of 13% compared to last year's Lunar New Year period. It was also observed that there were as many as 7 "whale" high rollers with betting amounts exceeding MOP 500,000, compared to 4 during the Lunar New Year of 2025; meanwhile, the average minimum betting amount for baccarat reached MOP 2,347, an increase of 5% compared to the Lunar New Year of 2025, indicating signs of recovery in the basic mid-tier market
