# Former Hong Kong Monetary Authority Chief proposed to establish "Capital Connect" and expand the dual counter for Hong Kong Dollar - Renminbi

> Former Hong Kong Monetary Authority Chief Executive Norman Chan proposed to integrate the existing cross-border investment mechanisms into a single "Capital Connect" to allow investors to access funds across channels and enhance the vitality of Hong Kong's RMB fund pool. At the same time, he suggested expanding the Hong Kong dollar - RMB dual-counter model from 24 stocks to all Chinese concept stocks listed in Hong Kong

Former Hong Kong Monetary Authority Chief Executive Norman Chan proposed to integrate the existing mutual access mechanisms into a single "Capital Connect," allowing investors to access funds across channels instead of returning funds to the original source, which would make Hong Kong's RMB liquidity pool more vibrant. Norman Chan suggested expanding the HKD-RMB dual counter model from the current 24 stocks to all Chinese concept stocks listed in Hong Kong. (Hong Kong Economic Journal)
