# Amazon Web Services: Service interruption announced after Dubai data center was hit

Amazon's cloud computing division, Amazon Web Services (AWS), announced that its data center in Dubai experienced a service interruption after being struck by an unidentified object on Monday.

In a statement, AWS said that the data center "was struck by an object, causing sparks and a fire incident."

AWS indicated that full recovery is expected to take several hours and advised customers to import data into backup regions during this time.

In another announcement, the company stated that its data center in Bahrain also experienced network connectivity issues
