This is the latest investment commitment from the tech company, which is currently seeking to profit from the ongoing demand for artificial intelligence. The group's cloud computing division, Amazon Web Services, announced this news at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, stating that it will add approximately €18 billion on top of the €15.7 billion investment commitment the company announced in 2024. This additional investment indicates that Amazon is actively pushing to expand its capabilities to gain an edge over competitors in the AI race, despite some investors expressing skepticism about tech companies investing billions of dollars in infrastructure upgrades and partnerships with AI startups. Last month, Amazon stated that it expects its capital expenditures to reach $200 billion this year, nearly a 60% increase compared to 2025. Amazon, Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Google under Alphabet, and Oracle plan to spend a total of over $700 billion this year. Amazon stated that this additional investment in Spain will help strengthen its data center infrastructure in Aragon, an inland region in northeastern Spain that supports part of Amazon Web Services' AI and cloud capabilities in Europe. Amazon Web Services announced plans to build a server manufacturing plant, a manufacturing fulfillment warehouse, and an AI and machine learning server manufacturing and maintenance facility in Aragon to support its data center operations in Spain and Europe. The company launched services in Aragon at the end of 2022, allowing users to store data directly in Spain. A year later, the company announced plans to establish an independent sovereign cloud service in Europe, stating that the project would help public sector organizations and clients in highly regulated industries meet evolving data storage requirements. This announcement is the latest spending commitment from Amazon to expand its overseas operations. In October last year, the company stated it would invest over €1.4 billion in the Netherlands to strengthen its cloud computing and retail operations in the country. The company also committed to investing €17.8 billion by the end of 2040 to enhance its logistics network and cloud infrastructure in Germany ### Related Stocks - [Franklin Exponential Data ETF (XDAT.US)](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/XDAT.US.md) - [ProShares Big Data Refiners ETF (DAT.US)](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/DAT.US.md) - [Global X Cloud Computing ETF (CLOU.US)](https://longbridge.com/en/quote/CLOU.US.md) - [Amazon.com, Inc.
