# Greece's PPC, Metlen to develop battery storage across Romania, Bulgaria, Italy

March 5 (Reuters) - Greece’s PPC (DEHr.AT) said on Thursday it has signed a 50-50 joint venture agreement with Metlen (MTLN.L) to develop, construct and operate up to 1,500 MW (3,000 MWh) of battery energy storage projects across Romania, Bulgaria and Italy, securing a significant portion of its energy storage target over the next three years.

-   PPC also said that 1,000 MW are expected to be implemented within the next 12 months.
-   For the construction of the projects, two-hour liquid-cooled lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery systems will be used ensuring efficiency and safety, it added.
-   PPC Group will handle project development and energy management, while Metlen will manage construction.
-   Storage stations will support photovoltaic and wind parks by storing surplus energy for injection into the grid during periods without sun or wind, PPC said.
