# Argentina's wet summer week boosts corn, soy crops

BUENOS AIRES, March 5 (Reuters) - Rainfall over the last week has improved the condition of Argentine soy and corn fields, the Buenos Aires grains exchange said on Thursday, as the crops are currently undergoing a key period of high water demand during the southern hemisphere summer.

-   Argentina is the world’s top exporter of soybean oil and meal and the third largest supplier of corn.
    
-   The exchange expects the 2025⁄26 harvest will produce 48.5 million metric tons of soy and 57 million tons of corn.
    
-   Some 74% of fields planted with soy are in “normal or excellent” condition, as are 87% of cornfields, it said.
    
-   Farmers have harvested 7.2% of the area they planted with corn. The soy harvest is set to begin in April.
