# National Committee Member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Xu Xing: Science is actually very interesting, and scientists are actually very cool

The second "Committee Channel" of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference was held at the Great Hall of the People. Xu Xing, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, director of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and professor at Yunnan University, was interviewed by reporters. Xu Xing introduced that the "Science Popularization Journey" is one of the activities for members of the National Committee to serve the people. As a scientist member, I have participated multiple times in the "Science Popularization Journey" organized by the National Committee, going into schools to closely share stories about the world of dinosaurs with children and to share the joy of scientific research. I deeply feel that this activity is particularly meaningful and valuable. In science popularization activities, I often combine my personal experiences to tell children that science is actually very interesting and that scientists are really cool, planting a seed of science in their hearts. Technological innovation and science popularization are the two wings for achieving innovative development. Practicing the theory of the two wings, building China's scientific culture, and improving the Chinese cultural system, let science become a major component of our national blood, I will always be on this journey. I look forward to more scientific workers engaging in science education in primary and secondary schools and contributing to China's science popularization cause. (CCTV News)
