# Akash Network (AKT) - BME Proposal Vote - 07–14 March 2026

Akash governance is voting on the Burn-Mint Equilibrium (BME), which would change AKT’s economics so that every AKT used to deploy workloads on the network is permanently burned, directly tying token supply to actual compute demand. According to the Core Team’s onchain proposal announcement, the upgrade is scheduled for March 23 at 14:00 UTC and will also add WASM smart contracts, enabling faster feature iteration. If passed and network usage grows, the burn mechanism could materially reduce net issuance, improving AKT’s supply/demand profile, but rejection of the proposal would leave current tokenomics unchanged.
